Description

Spike and Mac act pretty much the same around their crushes, both are young kids, both have crushes on adult women, both are mature for their ages and both are simps for them.
Mac is 8 and Frankie Foster is 22, so that’s how I see the ages of Spike and Rarity. Not a real ship, but it’s nice to know she actually cares for him.
Sidenote: Lauren Faust wrote a majority of Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, so it’s no wonder these relationships seem the same.

Isn’t that the fic where Rarity almost akins having a relationship with Spike to bestiality and has an internal fight with herself, but not really? I couldn’t stand the author’s roundabout filler writing style; it was a branch of that mediocre Romance Reports, which only got praise because most clopfics from that era were somehow worse.

I mean she’s stating the obvious, but she’s not wrong.
Sparity would have been creepy as all hell.

I think the problem I have when people hold tweet interpretation posts up like this is that none of this made it into the show: it wouldn’t have been too much of an effort for Faust in season one or other head writers over the years to write Spike like the CMCs, show Spike attending school like the other fillies, give him a human aged form in EQGs or have a genuine mother son relationship either with Twilight, Twilight’s mom or Celestia herself.
But that is not what we have: we have Spike present yet separated from pony society at the same time; we have Spike with responsibilities not given to any of the children pony characters (ex: cooking for Twilight, magic experimentation with Twilight, messenger to a ruler, librarian assistant, etc.); we have Spike placed and acknowledged as in the same age group as Garble, Ember and maybe Smolder; we see Spike rewarded (The Crystal Empire, Equestria Games) or chastised (Princess Spike) like an older character taken more seriously rather than a younger one who will make mistakes. And this separation does exist in the show as the CMCs are often examples of (ex: Growing Up Is Hard To Do, Somepony Watching Over Me). We have adult characters like mares or soldiers in the Crystal Empire or the buffalos in season one fond over and want to be lead by Spike; Spike himself is able to decide when he wants to leave Twilight and strike out on his own (Dragon Quest); he can become the leader of his dragon people (Gauntlet of Fire) and has multiple personal friends he hangs out with outside the mane 6 who are of an older age group than filly characters; and finally is in arguably broadline romantic relationship with Gable.
Show context matters and the context doesn’t support a very young character with societal limitations. Fan works and preferences however has more freedom. If someone wants to explore family bonding fluff with Twilight and Spike or why Spike wasn’t involved in the family trip in Once Upon A Zeppelin that is up to that person. Debating Spike or mane 6’s real ages is fine, telling people, gatekeeping fan works and shipping isn’t.

The translation to Lauren’s tweet is
“ Hey kids! I’m gonna leave this gun with 1 bullet on the table and then exit the room for a few minutes, I’ll let y’all decide what to do next after I leave the room and possibly not come back EVER after the door has been closed. Toodles! “

Ah, the people who live thru Spike and also crush on Rarity are taking this as well as I’d suspect.
He’s a kid. Her being interested in him romantically would have been creepy as hell.
When I was younger I used to ship them regardless of the age gap. But as I got older I’d realized how questionable the relationship would be, so I began reimagining the ship with an older version Spike, and it’s much more dramatic in my opinion.

I know it’s not me you were talking about, but I feel dirty for just having said the P word.
I should’ve stayed away from this thread… It’s corrupting me.

Thank you, miss Faust, for stating the obvious.
Anyways, can people stop saying Rarity’s a pedophile who manipulates Spike now? I’m tired of it.
Let them have their cute moments together. Thank you.

I think Lauren Faust is secretly a pedo herself, like why else would she have young adolescent girls flirting with boys that haven’t hit puberty yet? She’s done this in 3 of her best known shows (Friendship is Magic, Foster’s Home, and DC SuperHero Girls) and Aqualad x Supergirl is also a thing in that last one I mentioned.

Downvoting doesn’t change the fact that not only did Lauren think this but the writers and show runners after her did as well(many she hand picked) and even when others came in, it’s pretty much the same thing.
It’s so bad that at a fan convention they told a fan this,
“She’s an adult, he’s a kid, it wouldn’t be appropriate.”
The fan responds “So what?”
See? Honestly the worst episode I saw was Dragon Dropped which assassinated her character making her look like a groomer.
Rarity ain’t no groomer and she ain’t no MAP, honestly gigachad Spike probably lost interest in her when he saw how old she was getting, I mean grey hairs and all.
Plus have you ever seen another dragon hit on a pony? Or a pony hit on dragon? Nope.
So the answer is, interspecies relationships aren’t a thing in this world, this show was about friendship, not romance.

And the fans continue to wonder why MLP isn’t as popular as it used to be,
THIS right here is the prime example of that, cus the fans never stop complaining about dumb idiotic shit.
