I disagree. First, a person need not conform to any group. Second, I treat conforming to the majority as a higher level of conformism than merely conforming to a smaller group.
Most people think people being a brony is weird or undesirable, so you choose not to conform to the societal standard by becoming a brony.
Everyone cares what people think.
Alleged non conformists simply conform to a different group.
Or haven’t you noticed that hipsters all dress the same?
Different people think different things are beautiful and if you care what the majority of people think then you’re a conformist.
By the way, saying “I don’t adhere to society’s standards of beauty…” is another way of saying “I have no idea what people think is beautiful.”
