No offence, but if there is a “token dumb guy” as you call it in the grup it’s Pinkie, since she’s a lot of times out of focus or insane. Dash on the other hand, is a leader for the pegasi in ponyville, which she is shown to train and organise in Hurricane fluttershy, and likes reading almost as much as Twilight. She rams head first in her lessons because she’s brash, lacks patience and tends to have a short temper.

I think Celestia was fair, if not a bit harsh with the punishment. Keep in mind that Twilight really wanted to please her teacher and in the process went crazy because of it. This is partially Celestia’s fault for not telling Twilight earlier that she didn’t have to send a report every week. Twilight learned her lesson the hard way and I think that’s punishment enough. Making her friends write reports to her, other than an obvious way to make the other characters more involved, I think was a good idea as it was clear they needed to learn some friendship lessons, such as listening to a friend, a lesson which they all seemed to learn and explain on the spot.
It’s not like it’s anything new. People have been asking the writers and staff about the canon status of ships like Appledash for ages, and don’t even get me started about all of the overzealous Sparity fans.

I never said Twilight was level headed. Her mental breakdown in Lesson Zero was biggest of all.

Then which one chose mass murder as a solution to overpopulation without even consulting a separate source, then came up with a risky plan based on having a large amount of an arbitrary quality that said character had none of.
You mean Mare do Well? Yeah, that episode is another one I don’t consider canon. Everyone is just so OoC, even Dash, in that ep. AJ is the only one has has not had a breakdown. In Applebuck Season she she did act pretty crazy but is was from physical stress, not mental/emotional stress. Although one could argue that her physical stress came from her pride which is a mental/emotional thing. But then again Dash displays pride, and even arrogance, all the time and no one calls that crazy.

not just with the Star Wars prequels( which helped ruin it for me). i don’t like the cutie mark chronicles, because of how it made rainbow dash seem like she’s the most important character (for the record they could have done with any pony and would have reacted the same).
there’s also movies like Robocop 3, blade 3, x-men 3 (lots of threes)
still, you can’t ignore everything
of course you could also get off the computer and stop worrying movies and tv shows and deal with real life
where there are better things to worry over
