i have another idea. why does she treat misty badly? her family environment growing up could be one thing, but if you ask me it is more likely that she believes in alicorn supremacy because she’s too smart
and thus ambitious (which is why she pretended to be sunny and reach out to her before she decided to get dragonfire. she believed that sunny could be her kind.)
there’s also the possibility that she saw the division between the tribes, went through a lot and decided that they just cannot unite on their own, because when they have magic things can only be balanced if no race wants to get dominance. when they don’t have magic to keep themselves grounded then they just have to become “smart” and saw that their culture is too different. also they realized that windigoes stop coming when they stay away and not fight together.
so she knew that as the last alicorn she just have to do it herself. and no other race deserve to be treated the same way (because they’re idiots!)
thus the mistybuse. she obviously cannot do it herself because she has her own plan and thinks everyone else can only serve her. the fact that misty have been taking that all the time just made opaline believe that even more.
Thank you.
Maybe she actually DID at one point, but over time she changed and devolved into what she is now. Maybe magic coming back has brought out the worst in her, or something?
Oooh I like the dynamic. Perhaps the story can develop into the split-up between Misty & Opaline and we can see how both learned to handle the situation afterwards separately?
I like your opinion.
I also think the same, maybe Opaline had problems with her family in the past. Or maybe Opaline grew up with a stepmother.
I have thought of something, but I think that it would be way too big and difficult for me to tackle. This series isn’t as thought-out as the previous one I’d been making- I just flow with little ideas and concepts I have in my head, and I’m not very confident in it this time. It’s not a story that I feel the need to get out as much as the anorexic sunny series. It’s more of a side thing because I really like Misty and think that she has a lot of potential. I personally think Opaline has very low self esteem and thus always needs a servant to boost her ego. I don’t doubt that there were many other unicorn servants before Misty. It feels like Opaline is lonely and has a very flawed perception of what healthy relationships are like because she may have suffered from her own parental figure in the past in some way.
Edited
Maybe she cared more about him in the past and something made Opaline’s importance to Misty diminish.
