Man, I love evil Twilight Sparkle. I mean, think about it. Think about how much power she actually wields. She holds so much back to keep from hurting others. What if she had no compunctions about torturing or killing her adversaries? No remorse? No restraint?

Conspiracy Theory idea?
 
What if Celestia and Luna are like Queen Mabs from that Merlin film with Sam Neill. If they don’t have the worship of their subjects, they will cease to exist. The two ponies fear this and try to inspire their subjects by finding “worthy” mares to convey princessdom/alicorhood onto so both ponies can show they are benevolent to their subjects and truly care for them?
