are certainly meant to be enjoyable by kids, however adults make up a much higher percentage of the audience than they do for the cartoon, and you see that reflected in the writing. There is a lot more dark and scary stuff than the show. I am pretty sure that the murdering of a fluffy kitten critter would not fly in the show.
The two IDW My Little Pony Friendship is Magic comic books series are for all ages and appropriate for children just like the show.
Adventure Time is TV-PG and orcs still considered “kid friendly”. MLP it’s not as crude, but I consider the comic to be for adults and kids who are old enough for Adventure Time.
It may be somewhere between Y7 and PG. If this were movie ratings though, it would be PG.

At least we can deny that Hasbro ever did an official Humanized MLP product. These things are just horrific anorexic-looking mutants and therefore will have no implication on humanized MLP fanon.
Maybe that’s the point of the horrifying art, to induce vomiting.
From what I read. That was just Tara Strong. I’m guessing the voice actors aren’t as in the loop as the writers and show runner.
