That might explain (partially) the popularity of tomatoes in Mexican cuisine. That, and tomatoes being native to Mexico and Central America, meaning that, much like peppers, they were really easy for Mayans and other indigenous cultures to cultivate them.

Apparently there are a lot of people interested in exotic gastronomy here. Makes sense, since (IRL) the foreign food market in the US is the one that is growing at the fastest rate, with Mexican and Vietnamese cuisine becoming especially popular.

Are you lactose intolerant or did you have a fight with the milkman?

@Eragor14
Since we are talking about chili peppers, you know that hot chocolate was served with chili peppers, it was a water-based drink.
the reason the name hot-pepper is that the Spaniards thought it was a kind of pepper, so they traveled back to Spain where they returned the chile milder in its heat, they returned it back to the new world and that chili is called “chile poblano”
it also depends on the gastronomy that was created between two worlds

Nope since again I don’t have a knowledge about Indian food. And yeah, I know mayans and nahuas used chilli for a long time, in fact pretty much a lot of cultures did that around that time. They even used the cacao beans as coins in some places. The people from Castilla and Aragon certainly added some additional meat and veggies to mix up things even more.
Besides, it’ll be silly a mexican vs mexican to see which country has the spiciest food.

Okay, I want to know: are you two now competing to see which country has the spiciest foods or something? Because it certainly looks that way.
Also, in the case of the Mexican, he forgets that spicy food has been a staple there for centuries, long before the Spaniards arrived. The Mayans served chili peppers with a lot of their food types, and early cacao beverages served by the Mayan chieftains contained chilis. This likely evolved into what is now known as (at least here in the US) Mexican hot chocolate, a variety of hot chocolate that is much spicier than the normal varieties.

When did I mention water? I know that doesn’t work with high capsicum foods, lol. But I wouldn’t drink milk, either. The lactose content just doesn’t work for me.
