To be pedantic, i would call that fur, not wool.
Perhaps I chose the wrong word, but if you have seen real pony horses up close, or touched them, you should know that for the most part, horses are NOT bald, their body is covered with short hair, or wool. Equestrian ponies I imagine the same.
