Yes I’m sure she didn’t have other problems like an evil Alicorn or anything. And there’s more to doing history research than going out and exploring. Because…you totally saw Argyle doing any of that huh? Plus, she’s more than likely not going to find what she’s looking for when she doesn’t even know where it is. Not like she’s going to step outside and be all “oh hey I found Ponyville”

Did you even watch the movie. That’s anything but a spit on his grave. She made a promise to him that when she grows up she’ll make them friends again. She cared more about keeping her promise to her father than continuing his work. It’s not she didn’t care about his work though, she kept them all safe…until Sprout destroyed the majority of Argyle’s life’s work.

All I’m saying is stuff that has been stated by people working for Hasbro. I do know that Discovery Family has some airing rights still but idk any of the legal stuff beyond that, but I’m going off of what the Hasbro employees who worked on G5. From what they’ve said, and I don’t know the particular legal rights to G4 that they said DF has in terms of royalties (the server where the source I found that out from was the G5 MLP server, which I got booted from months ago so unfortunately I don’t have that on me atm), but the gist of what they said was because of Discovery Family, they would have to pay royalties for most G4 references and such.

Surprisingly that’s not the case, it was never its own thing originally, apparently the original idea was to follow the Mane Six from G4 but they were species swapped for some reason (like Rarity is a Pegasus and Twilight is an Earth Pony) and they were all very tall and lanky…it looked horrible. I’ll take G5 to that strange nonsense any day.

Now most of this is simply untrue. The existence of the other races isn’t treated like they never existed (in Chapter 5, I think, a character subtly references Changelings), and just because they’re not mentioned and not shown in no way is evidence that they’ve been “wiped off the face of the Earth”. They don’t have to deliberately show every little race and thing from G4 to be faithful. Secondly, Sunny isn’t technically historically studious. Her father is, but she’s not really shown to deliberately study her life away like her father did. Most of her knowledge about Ancient Equestria she states as being stuff she remembered from her father or when she was a filly. When he died she clearly just chose to try to spend her time afterwards proving the three pony races can be friends again, rather than continuing her father’s studious legacy. As for weather and day cycles, that one itself is never explained but there could be some actual reasoning, seeing as it was an at approximate 1,000 year gap. But given the show didn’t survive long enough to get a chance to explain it, well never know, unless IDW tries to.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I would love to see these other races show up again, especially the Kirin. But Make Your Mark was about following up from the movie, and focusing on the three main pony races and Opaline & Misty. Putting additional races into mix at the same time would be far too much, unless they save it for a post-Opaline plot. Now I would say they could do something similar for the S6 Special. I should also point out, while yes it would be cool to see G4 stuff come back and the G5 cast seeing what happened to the locations from G4, at the end of the day G5 may be a continuation of G4 it is still NOT G4. It is still its own story, with G4’s story being a stepping stone, as rough of a step as it is lol.
Personally I believe they probably WOULD HAVE had Sunny & Co decide to seek out the locations from G4, to find out what REALLY happened to Twilight. And that would be interesting. But sadly, seeing as Hasbro made some really stupid decisions with how they handled Make Your Mark in terms of accessibility, the writing of the first few Chapters, the way episodes were districted, etc., MYM wasn’t able to last as long as Hasbro would have hoped.
Sadly what a lot of people do fail to realize is that just because MYM was bad in the first few chapters doesn’t mean it will forever. Chapter 4 was a vast improvement, 5 and 6 were an even more massive improvement (save for Spike’s rushed design and voice, at least his personality was spot-on), and if it continued further who knows maybe it COULD have developed into something far better. Hopefully TYT decides to stop being G5’s Pony Life and becomes more story-driven.

I’m not too knowledgeable on Disney history but I’m sure Disney created Mickey Mouse. Plus, it’s not like people don’t renew the license. DF didn’t create any of the G4 characters. It never made sense for DF to have any right to G4 other than airing rights.

Why do think Mickey Mouse is still Disney’s property even though it should have expired long ago according to how copyright should’ve work? Overall, yeah the American copyright law is truly confusing. I think they should either abolish it or revise it at best.

That does play a huge factor to it. Which still comes to money. Every reference to G4 they have to pay royalties. American copyright laws are truly insane.

I hear that it’s more due to copyrights. And Discovery has them.

It had nothing to do with the writers. Berrow originally intended it to be that appearance for Twilight but Hasbro shot it down because of cost. Blame the higher ups.
