He’s a human. If you want him to be a pegasus in pony form, make him a pegasus. Otherwise don’t.

Assuming he’s a new character (which I think he is, since his color scheme doesn’t match with Shining or Soarin), I think that what will end up happening is that “Brad” won’t follow Twilight back but she will meet his pony version back in Equestria at the very end of the movie.
 
Which, combined with the whole “Twilight is growing up” trend that started with season three as a whole, I wouldn’t be surprised if Equestria Girls really does tie into season four and Equestria-“Brad” will be her love interest (maybe he’s one of Twilight’s guards?). This might not really be a bad thing.

This is a cartoon, if you become to obsessed with what’s “canon”, you make yourself look silly. You are here to enjoy yourself, not worship every little detail in the show. Unless of course you enjoy doing that, if that’s the case, carry on.
