I wasn’t even thinking about Pinkie at all. Discord never seems to tolerate her that much, probably because Discord tricks others and Pinkie has no control not even on herself, I never imagined Discord liking Pinkie because they actually don’t share the same core despite what it looks at first glance.
I guess it makes a bit of sense, thought I probably would struggle bonding with someone like her.

Pinkie did seem like the obvious choice, given their shared love of fun, and Pinkie’s cartoonish defiance of physics lining up with Discord’s chaos magic. However, I think it’s because Fluttershy’s sincerity and compassion made her immune to Discord’s wiles when he tried to hypnotize her at first, making him resort to doing it forcefully, and she, unlike the others, was actually willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see that there was more to him than just chaos and tricks.

Well, to put it plainly, Discord, ponies in Ponyville are used to and know the pony friends Fluttershy has, and know her as the polite and demure pony she is. They’re not expecting it when you say you’re friends with her, because they haven’t had as much of a chance to get to know you and understand why you and Fluttershy click as friends.
