She chose to stop being a victim after she was given an alternative in the kindness and compassion of her friends. Friends who don’t berate her for every last thing she did. As if that wasn’t a difficult journey on its own.
So you’re saying Misty’s redemption wasn’t her own choice? Misty didn’t choose to stop being a victim at any point? Did we watch the same show?

Like it or not, Misty’s past is part of who she is. And part of Misty’s past is being a selfish pony that thought having a cutiemark was worth: lying, stealing, taking valuable information from an archive to hinder her friends, and kidnapping a baby dragon. She doesn’t have to let her past define her or live in perpetual guilt, but she also shouldn’t just wave it away either.

Remembering the past is to learn from mistakes, but she already did, there’s no need for remembering anymore, it’s hugely traumatic and would only do worse for Misty + will make others sad for her too, therefore it will be worse for everyone
After which she came back and did exactly the same thing, and received none. To the point that she had one for herself (that almost destroyed reality).

Guilt can be a good thing. If Misty didn’t feel guilt over kidnapping Sparky, she would’ve never told the other ponies. If Misty didn’t look at manesquerade photo and feel guilt, she might’ve left the m5 stuck in a bubble. Guilt is a huge part of Misty’s character. Instead of using the past to push herself forward, she poofs it away because it made her feel uncomfortable in this instance.
