And half of them are going to be kinect games!
Hurray?
DO NOT EVEN INSULT ALL THAT WAS GREAT WITH THE 3DO WITH THIS TURD,,,
Oh look, the 3DO is back!
Hey, they have FIFTEEN exclusives on the way! What those exclusives are, who knows, but dammit, they’ll be getting exclusives, by God!
Saying that they don’t care about gaming is an idiotic and unfair assumption considering that the primary purpose of the XBOX is playing games.
You’re right that the primary purpose of the Xbox is playing games. However, given how the majority of the conference was spent showing everything the One can do BESIDES playing games, I’m not at all convinced that that is the primary purpose of this system. If gaming was the system’s primary purpose, then the games would have been the main focus of the conference. They seem to be pushing this as an all-purpose entertainment unit rather than a gaming system (“You can watch sports, browse the Internet, go on Skype and tweet all at the same time! Oh, and it can play games, too.”) And it’s not just me saying that, here’s a quote from Microsoft’s chief production officer of interactive entertainment:
“The decision wasn’t, ‘We need a gamebox,’ it was, ‘We need a living-room experience.’”
-Marc Whitten
Along with their anti-used game policies and the fact that they made no attempt to address the near-universally-reviled-by-gamers rumours of the system being “always-online,”* these would seem to suggest that Microsoft does not care about gamers’ best interest.
*They did confirm after the conference that the always-online requirement would be left up to the developers rather than being universal, however, the fact that in their conference they did not categorically deny something that has had so many gamers upset and nervous for the future of Xbox would seem to suggest that they do not disprove of the idea of always-online and wish to gradually push the industry in that direction
If you’re looking for a showcase of software taking advantage of the hardware, then wait for E3 and you’ll have plenty of material to judge. Saying that they don’t care about gaming is an idiotic and unfair assumption considering that the primary purpose of the XBOX is playing games. That’s a given. It goes without saying. What Microsoft was demonstrating was what’s new hardware and feature-wise that sets it apart from XBOX360. We already know it plays games. The reveal was about what else it could do.
Gaming-wise, the boost in processing power and RAM is reason enough for me to look forward to E3 to see what that lets developers do.
They were showing off the features of the system, and they made clear in their conference that the ability to play games was not important to them.
Personally, I feel the best way to show off a gaming system is to show the kind of games that it can play.
Thanks for letting me know. This upgrades my sentiments on the X Box One from “active contempt” to “apathy”.
…so i cant even share my discs with my friends now, i ll need to get the entire xbox to his home if i want to play a game that i have but he doesnt….that killed xbox to me, really e.e’
Apparently, the system will not always be online, nor will all games require an Internet connection to be played. HOWEVER, a game developer will have the option to make their games require an Internet connection.

I also am starting to hate the words “dynamic” and “connected” purely out of over use and the way they seem to be used mostly to justify always online.
And I’m pretty sure the X Box One (stupid fucking name) will be always online with all their prattling on about the cloud and how it’s basically going to be a fancy cable box.
I’ll have to wait for E3 to be sure, but as of now I see no reason to buy any of the next gen consoles.
cause for me that was painful
