I understand how complicated crediting artists is in big professional productions. I still find it useful to credit people when the info is available but I totally understand why it’s the exception and not the norm for official content.

I also agree with your general point about leaks but this isn’t one - I tracked down the actual source and it’s exactly what I thought - personal Vimeo account of a film crew member. I added an artist tag and source entry. They must’ve had permission to publish these clips because they uploaded them and openly took credit for them as part of their professional portfolio. The poor form in this case is on the YouTuber who split up and reuploaded these clips without credit, making it look like a juicy leak.

Well… when it comes to productions like this, there’s often several dozens of individuals involved. It’s not possible to credit this to one, specific artist; the real world of the art industry doesn’t work like that.

In some cases, each character has their own assigned rigging modelers, who are separate from texturing, concept art designers, storyboard artist(s), background designers, colorists, hair designers, etc. There’s probably at least 10 artists involved with Izzy alone, before we even reach lighting, shading, special effects in post production, and then you gotta consider all the sound input too, which is its own art, not to mention editors and clean-up artists.

There’s literally an artist who’s sole job is to angle and adjust the mane/tail as the riggers alter and move a character’s head and body. In high quality 3D work, the riggers working on the face are a different team from those working on the body. They’re not even the same people who animate accessories (like Sunny’s saddlebag or Izzy’s braclets); that’s a different team of people.

All of these artists are then required to follow the direction, commands, and coordinate with the suggestions by art directors, animation and texturing supervisors, etc.

Reasons like this we don’t put artist needed tags on screencaps.

And you don’t usually credit sources on leaked production material like this; it’s not supposed to be available to the public.

I vote for leaving it on. AFAIK whoever manages the YouTube account these are coming from found them on Vimeo but didn’t credit their sources.

Many of the film’s crew posted clips like these, that they worked on, on their personal Vimeo accounts. It’s fantastic to know who made various bits of official media when possible - and I suspect it’s possible to figure out for this and similar clips.

This site is a richer resource for having tags like artist:borja l-galiano and artist:jonny burton filled out (I did most of these two but there are others), and I hope we uncover more of them with time.
