Maple Ember is a 34 year old pegasus mare formerly of Vanhoover, but now living in the small mountain town of Green Neigh, located to the south of the Crystal Empire. She is a professional weatherpony who specialises in working with thunderstorms.
Physically, she is taller and a little heavier than average for a pegasus mare and has a great level of fitness, both on the ground and in the air. During her childhood, she received extensive flight and weather handling training at Cloudsdale- this was paid for by her well-to-do parents, who only wanted the best for their beloved daughter.
As an aside, Maple Ember was the childhood best friend of Frost Blossom, who now works in the Crystal Empire as the Royal Family’s Chief Librarian/Keeper of the Royal Archive. They regularly keep in touch via letters, and when Maple has time off, she will go visit her old friend, Edelweiss.
Her name has little to do with what she does with her life. The Maple part simply refers to the red parts of her mane, and the Ember part is just because of her eyes- when they catch the light in the right way, they almost look as if they are smouldering embers. Maple has the Equestrian equivalent of a Canadian accent.
She is a welcoming and cheerful soul who loves to meet new ponies and people and loves to sing, dance, and cook with them. Maple is a bit of a neat freak, and her cliffside home is meticulously organised, cleaned, and kept tidy, and her bills are ALWAYS paid on time. Her parents now live in a house at the same town, after they moved from Vanhoover specifically to be closer to their daughter.
After a spate of severe rogue storms that ravaged Equestria, causing a lot of damage to homes, business, farms and even claimed lives, Maple volunteered for specialist storm handling training in order to better protect her home town and those she cares about from hazards of this nature. It is noted that she is a very much selfless mare and would sacrifice her own life in a heartbeat if it meant saving somepony else.
When it comes to more personal matters, Maple Ember is openly bisexual and has no preference on either the gender or species of a partner, so long as they show integrity, honesty, and civility. She is currently single but dating - hoping to find the one with whom she can settle down and eventually start a family of her own.
