Pretty much this…
Besides lynching Yamino online, or putting the blame of “Derpygate” on only/mostly her, isn’t going to help anything, or convince DHX to change the whole “Derpy” scene back. I think we should be thankful to have the Derpster still in the show after the whole “Derpygate” crazyness, and her disappearance in most of S3. (Remember back when people were afraid she was gone?) Heck, I’m amazed merchandise of her is popping up to.

I admit, I kinda prefered the name “Ditzy-Doo,” (which was going to be her name originally in the script of “The Last Round-up,” as a callback to the “Winter Wrap-Up” episode) but I was never bothered by calling her “Derpy,” and even I was a li’l upset they edited the name out, to be more politically-correct, but what’s been done, is done. Though, I don’t mind the new voice to much, (aside from how “rushed” it sounds) sense it kinda reminds me of BaldDumboRat’s, or Rina-Chan’s cute fan-voices for her. (I think they both do cute fanon voices for her.)
Even with the name is removed now, people can still call her whatever they want, or even imagine her to sound however they want.

It was never just “10 people”; that was how many complainers hit AKR by email before this exploded. I guarantee you there are more than ten point-missing whiteknight crybabies with chips on their shoulders out there.

Yamino is a sanctimonious ass, but she’s hardly a supervillain or world leader of some kind of socially progressive dumbass movement; she’s just one of those shoulder-chipped paladins of other people’s problems who got as far as “ableism” in the dictionary and stopped reading before she got to “erasure”. Angry people want figureheads, and she was one of the loudest bitchers, so she got nominated for Fandom Villain.

More in-depth searches most likely meaning the lower rated definitions on Urban Dictionary. That she is naive enough to believe those don’t really change anything.

I don’t not single handedly blame yamino. I blame her and her tumblr followers. Yamino was among the first, if not THE first if you’d believe Google, to claim Derpy is ableist. Her fanbase on tumblr specifically told her they were going to send letters to Hasbro, and Yamino certainly helped redirect at least one of those 10 letters.

Fact of the matter is, if she had not started the whole Derpy is ableist thing none of this would have happened, no matter how much her current white knights try to tell you she isn’t involved (now when she have deleted almost everything revolving the issue).

Actually, you’re kinda misquoting Amy. According to this article her exact words were… (Here’s a small excerpt. Click the link for the whole article, and her whole statement.)
____________
When this episode first aired, I did not see it until after I started getting emails either thanking me or berating me for Derpy’s portrayal. The angry emails really freaked me out because I knew that I had not written a scene that could possibly be interpreted as being insensitive to people with disabilities.

So, when I got home, I watched the episode. I saw that the scene was shorter, which did not surprise me. That happens all the time. I listened to her voice and it was deeper than I expected. However, I was not offended by any part of the scene in any way.

But I got about 10 emails saying how offended folks were. People labeled me an “ableist” (a word I’d never heard of) and said that I was being insensitive to the disabled by calling this character “derpy.” I then did a search on what derpy meant and the first things that came up were “embarrassing” and “awkward” which is what I thought. But then when I did more in-depth searches, I discovered that one definition is “retarded.”

Now, you have to realize that reading that made my heart sink. My son Soren (of Soarin’ fame) is severely disabled. We do not use the word “retarded” in our house because it really has become an offensive slur. And while I knew that it was only a minority of people that defined “derpy” this way, it still upset me that I was the writer that put that name out there. It was painfully ironic and goes against the fact that I’m an advocate for the disabled.

I also want to note here that while I got 10 negative emails, I also got about 200 positive ones! I knew that the majority of fans were not offended. I got emails from fans with siblings with disabilities and parents of kids with disabilities and fans who had disabilities themselves and none of them were offended. At first, I tried to answer all these emails, but then I just became too overwhelmed. Still, I want to thank you all for your support!

But I was not the only one getting contacted regarding Derpy’s portrayal. Positive and negative feedback was also being sent to Hasbro and the Hub. Someone at the Hub who knows about my personal connection with disabilities contacted me asking my opinion. We talked about various options of what to do.

So regardless, it wasn’t just her getting contacted about it, and it wasn’t just Yamino. It was people behind the show, as well who decided on the edits.

For all we know, Yamino probably wasn’t even one of those people who e-mailed them, but even if she is, it wasn’t just her, and other people, as well. So we can’t just single-handedly blame Yamino for “Derpygate.”
I remember seeing some other people complaining about Derpy’s portrayal/voice to.

@Beau Skunky

Because the writer who initiated the change said it.

“But I got about 10 emails saying how offended folks were. People labeled me an “ableist” (a word I’d never heard of) and said that I was being insensitive to the disabled by calling this character ‘derpy.’”

“It may have been only 10 emails, but each one made me feel absolutely horrible”

Straight from the horse’s mouth so to say. It also pretty much confirms that they’re tumblr social justice warriors. Who else uses the term “ableist”? Plus I’ve read some of their messages.

I doubt it, they’d need alot more people then that.

Heck, internet petitions barely even make a difference. (Sure didn’t get “Mother 3” released here, and that petiton got 1,000s of signitures.) So what makes you think only 10 people on tumblr can?

“I don’t like the voice” is a world away from what Yamino said and the extent to which it was taken. Yamino is why why can’t have nice things.

Yamino is a “she,” actually.
But yeah, I guess I can see how that would upset alot of people, if she was happy for contributing to that, and bragging. Still, they said Yamino wasn’t the reason for the editing of Derpy in the “Last Round-Up,” and such, but regardless I will admit Yamino & some others did overreact to Derpy.

It wasn’t just Yamino who was upset over Derpy’s “portrayal” in that episode. I remember seeing several people on DeviantArt, and other places upset about Derpy’s voice, and such. (Not usually because of being P.C., but because she wasn’t how they “imagined” her to sound, and such…) I guess people like that are why we can’t have “nice things.”

He was the only one who did a missionaccomplished.avi after the episode was pulled, quite loudly I might add. It was only natural that the rage was funneled towards him in the aftermath. Stating that he was fine with the narrative that he was responsible for Derpy’s removal added fuel to the fire.

You mean this? >>246090 Admittedly, I did think that was just asking for trouble, but according to this, >>245727 she just made that to vent, because some people were hassling/trolling her, and gloating about the Derpy returning cameo in the finale. So technically, she didn’t start it, but she sure as heck wasn’t trying to stop it… She was just pooring gasoline on the flames she was getting, and it’s easy to take her rant as an insult sense she called bronies “hateful.” (Though, she might not of ment all bronies.)

Still, I think it was unfair of people to blame her for all of “Derpygate,” the editing/revoval of Derpy, and such. Somebody who worked on the show even had to tell people the edits weren’t because of Yamino.
One person can’t single-handedly do all of that, but regardless, I’m not going to justify some of Yamino’s behavior, especially that DA journal.

I will admit it is rather unfair of her to “hide” messages on her DA, just ‘cause she didn’t agree with them, or just ‘cause not all “mentally-handicapped” people agreed with her that Derpy was “offensive,” and such.
She also blocked a person who jokingly requested she draw a Derpy nun pic, when she asked people what kind of “unusual nuns” she should draw. >>181125 While I don’t blame her with being a bit sensitive on the subject of “Derpy,” (sense everyone unfairly blames her for Derpygate, and such, as I said) still, that’s very disproportional retrobution, and that person likely wasn’t even trying to attack her. They probably actually wanted to see her draw Derpy to “bury the hatchet” so to speak, but she didn’t even give that person a chance.

One thing’s for sure, if she does anymore art for the comic, don’t expect to see Derpy in her artwork.

@Background Pony
To be fair when the drama was dying down Yamino got bored and posted a jorunal insulting the entire community after the season 3 finale came out, then after the same 4 people defended her, she had another journal praising how “so many” people were defending her. While of course deleting reasonable comments and posters and trying to use the irrational ones as repersentive of her opponents. Again.

Shes a drama craving bitch but at least fell silent when she asked for shit and got more than she wanted. It sorts of like the Donut hell from simpsons, Yamino thinks she has a bottomless stomach for drama so loveeessss to start shit, but often bites off more than she can chew.

Whats up with claiming to stand up for the disabled then muting their voices and any who post on her da anyway? Why is it ok to write a comic taking the piss out of religion, if a wall eyed pegasus is much too offensive?
Background Pony #D6C0
@TexasUberAlles
It’s not relevant, no; but if one-half of the stupid “trannies==drama” argument deployed by some bronies turns out to not be trans, I’d find that highly amusing.
Background Pony #57F0
I’m a little curious about this. I’m sure Yamino was hired for art skills (which are clearly decent for the kind of art required) but why this announcement? It’s my impression that Yamino is widely hated among fans of this show. Then again, I don’t spend any time at hugboxchan or anything so maybe I have a narrow perspective.
Background Pony #3A86
I know Yamino didn’t cause Derpygate or the editing of “The Last Roundup”, and I wouldn’t care much even if she did. I don’t care that she hates Derpy on principle. I don’t care if her webcomic is virulently anti-Christian (and yes, I’m Christian). I don’t even care much that she’s a jerk who likes to cause drama and then deny it. What I do care about is that she’d censor comments from the people she claims to be speaking for because they disagree with her.

I’ll agree it’s nice art, and that’s fine, but I wouldn’t buy it because that would be supporting her, however indirectly.

@Background Pony
So she’s biologically a female?
