The only logical reaction, really.

I don’t mind furry. I don’t mind anthropomorphism. Hell, I don’t mind most things. But THIS bothers me. Those toys… why. . . ?

Those are kind of uncanny valley.

I like art that is animal, toon, non-humanish furry, or human,  
but this right smack dab in the middle of uncanny-valley-furry to me.

Little girls who want Monster High dolls aren’t going to buy these– I still don’t understand how Hasbro got it in their head that MLP colors + Monster High bodies = big bucks.

Just felt like saying, A lot of G1 Transformer toys didn’t resemble the ones on the cartoon, and kids still wanted them. Even some modern ones don’t.

Unless Husbro really pulls themselves together, Those are dead on arrival.

Third point: The dolls don’t even look like the movie characters, so even if people like the movie, that’s not going to make them want the toys. Because the toys have nothing to do with it.

even if EQG is good, it would not be able to sell these monstrosities. Not cute and pony enough for young girls who watch ponies, and not edgy enough to convert girls who like monster high. They are just hideous abominations of plastic that Hasbro doesn’t even know who to market them to.
 
The FiM brushables are rather cute, and represent the characters well enough that I own several. EQG are nightmares from uncanny valley, and I don’t know who Hasbro expects is going to want them.
