Actually, the stone form of the Tanooki suit does come in handy because it makes Mario invulnerable to enemies and projectiles. The downside is it only last for a few moments and you cannot move.
@Background Pony
The statue form was a gimmick in SMB3. It was only a hindrance to the normally agile Tanooki Mario. Otherwise, he is just a more fancily dressed Raccoon Mario. Super Leaves are far more common.
@SeraphimDawn
He came back in 3D Land. It was kinda weird in that the Super Leaf gave him the Tanooki Suit that behaved exactly like Racoon Mario, and the post game introduced a Stone Super Leaf that gave him a Tanooki Suit with a scarf, that gave him the real Tanooki Suit ability… the statue form.
I heard the normal Racoon Mario returned in New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS, but I haven’t played that one yet.
@SeraphimDawn
Agreed. SMB3 also has the best level designs in the series.
Nearly every level has well placed and thought out secrets.
It’s always a great feeling finding that giant ‘?’ block…
..only for your hopes being crushed when it only spews out 1-ups.
@Background Pony
I love Smb3 largely for the enemies and power ups in that game. SMB3 is pretty much the game where much of the elements of the Mario games were introduced.
@Background Pony
It was unfortunate this one fell into the lava after being stomped three times. Really? Pipes and Decoy? Wendy used a similar strategy.
These spiked shell subspecies of Koopalings such as BoomBoom from SMB3 seem to be the aristocrats of the Koopa Kingdom. Apparently they are also resistant to lava.
Hammer Brothers
Mario Bros 3
Boomerang Brothers
Fire Brothers
Sledge Brothers
SMW
Sumo Brothers
Chargin’ Chucks.
Not to mention it has a killer stomp… it can even kill the flame shooters on the airships.

I miss Raccoon Mario.

They did in Super Mario 3D Land.
He even has a sister or something.
SLANDEROUS LIES. Ludwig is best koopaling. >:I
In between the ranks of regular koopas and the spiked ones, are the Hammer Brothers(Smooth Shell).

Yup. That’s Lemmy.
@ColdhardSilver

So what would one call the koopalings? Orphan’s be sorta fathers
Yeah, in a recent interview.
He did? :( Oh well :P
Oh, me too… Too bad Miyamoto said that
theirBowser Jr.’s mother is to be unknown…Larry = Rainbow Dash
Morton = Bon Bon
Wendy = Diamond Tiara
Iggy = Lyra
Roy = Trixie
Ludwig = Octavia
I’m pretty sure that Bowser would be more of a Chrysalis fan.
