>We don’t know much about Equestrian royalty. While we’ve seen some of the pomp and circumstance that we would expect with western European royalty, we’ve also seen the princesses mingling with their citizens much more easily than royalty in our world would be able to.
Willing is a more accurate description. Records of kings enjoying revelry with their peasants aren’t unheard of, but this was a rare and appreciated trait because most kings and royalty saw the peasants as scum and little else. The fact everyone interacts the way they do with Celestia in the Bird episode and the manner which the rest of the royalty acts in the other episodes clearly shows there is quite a normal way of interacting between them and the lower class, with Celestia having a better view of them than her fellows. Nothing suggest their royalty works any different from ours. Well, except perhaps the whole “there is a good chance they will shoot you” thing, but that didn’t stop Diana while she was there.
Also, there’s the fact that Celestia specifically mentored Twilight after witnessing the results of her test.
I am not sure what you are getting at? Celestia saw magical powers beyond the fillies year and decided to ensure that power wouldn’t end up destroyed a city block, should she lose control. Kings taking in peasant children that show great skill in whatever it might be is, again, not unheard of and is actually quite a logical thing to do, for encouraging skilled people to serve loyally to you is good for the kingdom.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Twilight remained in Ponyville even after her coronation.
Surprise me? Not at all, they already stated that they are going to do that and hinted that there is a good chance we are essentially going to have the status quo remain unchanged, with some acknowledgements sprinkled within to perhaps mitigate the fact the status quo has essentially been shatter in an unrepairable manner.
The question becomes: does it make any sense, and will people just be able to dismiss as she goes about doing exactly as she did before if it turns out the reason for ignoring it is some contrived ass-pull?
I know its just that when I come up with different theory’s ( most of them positive ) I always have to be sure to put the worst case scenario in there as well. That way if it does happen I will be prepared for it.
@Background Pony
I think he means in this world, not ours. The princesses in this world are more or less pretty lax. Also in the book “Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell” ( if its canon with the main series ) in the first 6 pages its stated that there is a place set up for her in Canterlot but she has decided for now she will remain in Ponyville, she also told her friends, and close acquaintances to drop all royal formality when talking to her ( so no going “Your Majesty”, addressing her as Princess, or bowing ) that she is still just Twilight ( she even makes a joke that maybe she should be carrying around a banner that says “I’m still just Twilight, Really!” ).

>A princess can live where she wants.
Eh… you don’t know much about royalty, do yo?
It’s already been stated by several staff members that Twilight Sparkle is NOT leaving the show, nor her friends. It’s also been hinted she’s still going to live in Ponyville. (Hey a princess can live wherever she wants.)
Worst case scenario ( and if any of these happen I will state FiM ended after Se3 ( I know some have already stated it ended with Se2 but that’s there opinion ) ). Twilight stays in the human world to study it, Sunset Shimmers or Twilight’s counterpart takes her place among the mane 7 ( or 6 if you prefer ) and/or worse of all the rest of the mane cast goes to the human world and stays to help study it, and Se4 onward stars a new mane cast.
It’s possible that there could be a spinoff series.
But the movie has to be successful enough to warrant one before it becomes feasible.
Isn’t the film already a crossover?
I would tap that.
That bit about Discord actually sounds cool, I’d watch that. :)
A lot of folks haven’t been, honestly. They still love ponies, but aren’t freaking out about every little thing. A lot of my friends miss all the drama because they’re busy doing other things. I’m just
masochisticcurious about goings-on.There is certain elements which make people believe it might have a longer lasting effect than just being some thing we can ignore on forever, but in general, yeah.
Yes, but I didn’t think they were this stupid to think Equestria Girls would be any more than a movie.
Have you been paying to this fandom at all for the past three months?
It’s a movie that basically amounts to a more-or-less self-contained plot arc that involves Twilight going to some human world to retrieve a stolen object of power.
In terms of WHAT it is it’s… pretty much on par with any of the other two-parter episodes. It’s just longer.
It’s like if people were freaking out and thinking that S2 would entirely be about Discord and not have any ponies in it at all. Just… cartoon John de Lancie monologuing. Endlessly.
I know right…
I’m curious now, what exactly where you saying?
THAT CLOUD? IT’S A PONY.
THAT SNAKE? IT’S A PONY.
THE AIR? MILLIONS OF TINY PONIES.
YOU ARE NOW ASPHYXIATING BECAUSE YOU CAN’T BREATHE PONIES.
Be afraid, fandom. Be very afraid.
