Biologically yes, but in mythology hybrids were very common. (Dragons were known to impregnate any creature, or be impregnated. Matters the gender.)
I believe something like Gem would be similar to a Kirin.
Well, given that Discord is supposed to be part dragon and part pony…
Gem actually is the most known “offspring concept” that there is for an eventual Sparity child, this is due to the design which somehow fits with the style of the show. (without being creepy)
I know it makes no biological sense, but neither does a flying horse.
