It’s been brought up, but never touched upon as Celestia has existed for over a thousand years.
As for “contributing” to toy sales, they have Princess Twilight, then they have Princess Twilight Sparkle, ruler of Equestria and Immortal princess. You won’t see it saying “immortal” on the box, but she’ll come from the future.

And what would making her immortal contribute to the toy sales?
Why would the subject of death be brought up anyway? Kids shows and toys almost never it up, and when they do they tread carefully (like in Apple Family Reunion, they had to have an explanation as to why AJ’s parents weren’t there.) There’s no reason whatsoever to mention Twilight’s mortality.
Meh, they’ll find a way to turn her immortal. Fountain of youth, Deal with Discord (probably why Celestia wanted him freed/deal with the devil), Cosmic Council from the comic bestows immortality onto her like the council of that one story did for Santa in that cartoon, you’re pick.
I just can’t believe McCarthy’s words because Hasbro has the final say. Their money, their product, their characters, and if they say she is immortal, she’ll become immortal.

Flash will watch Twilight stay young as he grows old and Twilight will then outlive him and her friends since Princesses should never die. Princesses are the only thing that matters.
