True but… well I don’t want to be ‘That Guy’. As I have a few friends whom are artists of the Furry and Commission drawing type, they all have some stories about some exceptional individuals and how they hate pushy people.
 
Besides, asking for a place to get reserved for me would feel like I’m cheating the people who see the commission slots are open and go “My Golly Gosh! I better inquire if he can draw my idea!” Like I’m more important or something.

He probably won’t be your besty even if he notices you in the hallway at school, either.

I keep wanting to grab a dfd off of 0r0ch1 but he doesn’t seem to do doodle streams anymore. :T
 
I should just try to get back into the habit of drawing again but for reasons I can’t figure out I’ve pretty much completely lost my ability to art. :X I want to be the one selling commissions, not just buying them. (Even if I couldn’t get more than $5 for a digitally colored, traditionally drawn sketch)

Well duh, it’s not like people are just going to magically find your stuff if you don’t advertise it places. Anyway as long as you link back to a source Derpibooru IS a good place for this kind of thing as well, don’t you worry about that Smiling.

The commissioning scene is actually pretty, hrm, sad?
 
Popularity means a lot more than actual talent. Now, Atryl, Siden, Kevinsano and host of others are insanely talented, but there are a lot of really damn good artists out there offering commissions for really cheap that get no bites simply because, for reasons I don’t fully comprehend, aren’t as popular.
 
If you’re an artist and want commissions, my only suggestions are to get on tumblr, make canon art and tag the fuck out of it, and get on DA and submit everywhere. I’d say “upload to derpi”, but I’m obviously too hilariously biased for such a suggestion to be taken at face value. Also we offer ads for commission artists _{plz give us money, we’re poor}

That’s why you just ask if they have the time/when a good time will be. If they don’t then they either won’t answer or will tell you when that time is.
 
Everything gets much easier when you look at it from a business perspective.

This is why I just ask some other artists if they can take requests.
