Aww…
Meat you not like?
D:
I’ll become a vegetarian when meat stops being delicious.
Which of course will be never.
On a related note, anyone up for a game of Find the Vegan?
Yeeps… but not yet.
Kinda makes you want to become a vegetarian, huh? :P
@The Smiling Pony
All these talk about abbatoir methods makes me think………..
One of the advantages (as you pointed out) of ritual slaughter over electrocution (via captive bolt pistol or the like) is that allowing the blood to drain leads to cleaner meat.
As for whether is is more humane, well, I’m not entirely sure. Based on my research, the electric shock often just renders the animal unconscious (especially if improperly performed) and the animal experiences periods of alertness and pain. Also EEG studies have reported that animals do exhibit a pain response when electrocuted (which is absent in ritual slaughter). Of course if the ritual slaughter is improperly performed, the animal does experience pain (which, according to Islamic guidelines, is why it is absolutely critical that it is done properly and with a very sharp knife).
Let me just say, as a guy that’s worked on a farm and slaughterhouse, that the execution method used, in west Texas at least, is an electric rod straight into the back of the neck that kills instantly.
Now, while that might be the most humane method to kill something, I must add the disclaimer that the reason this is done is because meat tainted by adrenaline (and the general sudden fear of death) is worse than fresh, innocent meat.
cultmainstream religion*And slaughtering a cow (or other livestock) is actually been proven scientifically (via EEG and EKG analyses) to be the least painful way to slaughter an animal (especially when compared to the Western methods of electrocution).
If you’re a strict vegetarian with anti-meat ideals, that’s one thing, but if you are going to slaughter an animal, cutting the jugular and carotid veins is the best method of doing so (it looks violent, but if you do brain imaging you quickly realize no pain is felt, the brain just quickly turns off as it’s drained of blood while the body’s muscles involuntarily contract).
And Fluttershy gave ferrets fresh fish so she understands the animal’s role in the circle of life (but I don’t think she has the stomach to tolerate animal slaughter, I could be wrong though).
That’s like me going around declaring all Christians take people suffering severe mental illness and torture them to “EXERCISE” the demons it’s wrong and bigoted
making fluttershy a part of cult that Animal Sacrifice with out blinking

an Imam walks over… says a prayer and slits the cows throat. The cow then writhes for about 1 minute and bleeds out. The cow is then skinned
THIS IS NOT FLUTTERSHY
sign anon who knows about religion “politically correct” bullshit
YOU pick your religion you don’t pick your race
ha, I like the idea of Fluttershy as Native.
I dislike friggin’ Muslimshy because I’m anti-religion in general.
True. I browsed the DeviantArt comments on the source and found someone saying they like to picture Human!Fluttershy as a Native American. Makes sense, given how their mythology promotes a strong tie to nature.
We all have our different ideas about these things, and there shouldn’t be any harm in sharing unless it’s clearly something immoral.
I somehow thought the same, CaptainGame
Well, then we have to define the line between diversity and political correctness, and then everything just sort of melts. (sigh)
This is why my headcanon sticks with the technicolor skin from EQG, to avoid this sort of problem.
Well the artist might just have liked the idea of black Rarity and islamic Fluttershy, so it might not be because they want it to be PC. But I’m not the artist, so I really don’t know
Or maybe I just have a strong distaste for anything propping itself up as PC.
Probably the first two things and the fact they can’t help but cause drama.
