Ok, Blueblood, Shining Armor, Big Mac, and Fancy Pants can be said to be the result of exercise, but the others? Sombra seems to have gotten taller through corruption, or maybe he was still very tall.
 
Maybe “unicorn” and “unicorn pony” are two separate species\breeds, and these above are all non-pony unicorns? And for Carrot Cake, he did say that he had an unicorn great-grandfather. He got the height, but not the horn.
 
For all we know, Pumpkin Cake will grow up to look like this (if she does not become Allie Way 2.0) or even Sweetie Belle, despite her dad being athletic and her mom being fat.
