They would have LOVED to name her Carrot Top, unfortunately, a certain comedian has the name trademarked. That’s why they said it was her nickname on the card, they couldn’t get away with it otherwise.

I remember seeing a comic once that I really liked, where Carrot Top received a package from her mother, addressed to “Golden Harvest VIII.” She then told Derpy that that Golden Harvest was a family name and that she preferred to go by Carrot Top.

It’s more creative than just calling the pony with orange hair “Carrot Top”. One of the not very good fannon names.
