Ever hear of the term ‘offensively bland?’ Refers to something being even worse than something intended as pure offense by the sheer idiocy/mediocrity of it. Most ‘bad games’ rated 4s, Friedman and Salzberg movies, and ‘pothead comedies’ would fall under it.
That’s where I think his actual biggest failing lies. They gave him enough ‘canon personality’ that you kind of know what he’s like, but didn’t leave off enough to give him the ability to become a background pony, er, human, and garner his own fanon. He really is as uninteresting and generic as everyone thinks he is. And that’s what makes him worse than irritating obviously-intended-to-offend one-shots like Hayseed.
Nobody likes Hayseed, but he doesn’t have like any sort of hatedom at all. Flash has a lot of people who are like “Eeeeh he’s soooort…of…okayish? and tolerable? I guess?” and then this gigantic hatedom. His very existence as a stock ‘non-character’ is what is so bad.
I don’t think the internet hates him as much as it thinks it does. >_>

Oh, the irony.
Even worse than Blueblood? :o
but but that’s…Unpastabowl!
Honestly, I don’t think he was supposed to be a big deal. We only think he’s so terrible because of all the attention we’re giving him.
In a few words, this guy is pretty much dead. He had his chance and Hasbro doesn’t seems to give him another. With so many oppositions, his existance is doomed.
This is an all-time low point to me in terms of MLP quality. Behold the absolutely worst character ever created of the MLP Universe.
I think that the brand is already having a very weak start. I doubt there’ll be a second wave of new dolls models.
in some ways, it was a major shortime lost. but in longterm impact it’s worthwhile if that’s why he is that way.
I wonder how many people created this problem for themselves?
Ohh. I misinterpreted your comment. In that case, you have my humblest of apologies.
Bro… I wasn’t implying he was a good character. I was adding to the pile of overly dreamy character.
You know who else had a cool car? Sam Witwicky from the Transformers movies. That doesn’t make him a good character.
Again, this is why I feel that they really didn’t want to write for Flash to begin with. They can write romance/deep feelings of friendship. They just didn’t want to write well for him.
So did Wall-E for that matter.
