In the Ghostbusters movie, Dana (possessed by Zuul) was the Gatekeeper, while Louis (her nerdy neighbour, possessed by Vinz Clortho) was the Keymaster, both servants of Gozer, the villain. Together they would open the way for Gozer to enter the world.
 
They did this by having sex. No, I’m not kidding. That’s what they did. Look up the scene where they meet, it cuts away to the protagonists for a while, and then back to them lying around looking worn out. You can probably figure out exactly what the “gate” and the “key” were from that context.
 
So, yeah.
