@richiebenaud
Oh yeah? Where? Give me some examples to back up your statement.
>lol pinki is a cereal killer xDDD
Funny you mention that because Smile HD isn’t creative or funny. All it is is a gorefest. Though I’m not sure he visits 4chan though.
I suppose so. I still am really not up with the ‘community’ aspect of 4chan though. I freaking hate sites like Tumblr too but I can understand that it features many prominent brony artists too.
Don’t say shit you have no idea about.
Also
>creative content
>lol pinki is a cereal killer xDDD
>lol culestia is a rapist xDDD
Don’t be blinded by nostalgia.
I disagree with that, good shit is being made all the time.
I’m not sure about that. /mlp/ has an art thread up almost 24/7, not to mention the numerous generals for fanfiction, animation, and other stuff. They’re basically an island nation, and the rest of the fandom is a big continent.
I think most of the fandom’s creativity/originality died awhile back. There’s so few people left.
Also the fact they’re overly hypocritical and can’t make funny/original content to save their life was another nail in the coffin.
Having the ability to speak freely is a great thing and I’d never want to see /mlp/ or any of 4chan censored in any way, even if I don’t personally want to go there often. They always seem to go past blunt and honest and give you a nice helping of ludicrousy and hatred, oh well. People can be brutally honest on here as well and it never seems to get to /mlp/ level.
@Background Pony
And I’m glad, on the very rare occasion I’ve valued /mlp/’s brutal views.
@Background Pony
yeah techy, it’s just the way 4chan is
you either dig it or you don’t
personally I don’t post there anymore. I’ve found better places to talk about the show, and they don’t dive right into shitposting whenever there isn’t a new episode to talk about
Those responses are a bit of a given. They’ll always be there. Usually, if you respond to one, they’ll tell you exactly what they think. I’ve seen it happen a lot, particularly in regards to animations and fanfics.
It’s a weird way of thinking. This is the basic train of thought; “This place is a shithole, but it’s OUR shithole.”
They mainly reject decency because it’s something they feel like they have to do to keep themselves relevant, and that’s okay, in my eyes. There are lots of other places on the internet to go if you want something nice and pleasant, but very few if you want something more blunt. I feel like 4chan in general acts the way they do not because they want to, but because they feel like they NEED to. Open discussion is rare, and the best way to foster open discussion is to be blunt, often offensive, in order to get your point across.
As I said it had its merits, but even after wading through all the “OP is a faggot” and “it’s shit” and the like, it’s still debatable how realistic the rest of the responses are. They could very well be more pecimistic than they actually think. Like say someone said “I love my waifu and no longer am attracted to real humans”, the most legitimate response you’d get would likely be “I don’t give a shit” (expressing an actual feeling) or “take a break from mlp” but nothing I’d call an analytical response.
If they think it’s such a shithole why do many of the go there so often? (Some people just want to watch the world burn type of thing?)
/mlp/ and 4chan in general does have its merits, but the ability for discussions without trying to be nice and politically correct doesn’t mean you have to reject all descensy.
4chan isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for something positive. Anonymity makes it easier to focus on the negatives instead, something which goes hand-in-hand with solid critique. If you want a good opinion on something, /mlp/ will tell you exactly how they feel, as long as you’re willing to wade through the replies of “it’s shit” and “OP is a fag” long enough to find good replies.
Having that knowledge would probably make me want to use the term more.
I haven’t talked with a single person on /mlp/ who thinks they’re better than the fandom. Ask them what they think of /mlp/, and they’ll pretty much all say that it’s a shithole. However, it does have one thing going for it, which is open discussion, something that’s quite rare elsewhere. Anonymity has several downsides, but the main thing that outweighs them is the fact that you can call people on their bullshit however much you want, which isn’t all that common on other sites.
