I just noticed in the first panel one of the trees in the background is square.
 
I fucking love that.

At certain angles, the nostrils add something a little more goofier. At others, I couldn’t really care.
 
Either way, it gives them a silly “fruit bat” feel.

I do the noses because they give the snouts (and the head, consequently) more of a form, especially when the far cheek defines the far side of the face, as often happens with my ponies (as opposed to the far side of the face being defined by the end of the snout, as usually happens on the show).
 
Some people love them and some people hate them. I get some negative feedback for drawing them, I would get some negative feedback if I stopped drawing them. It’s an arbitrary preference that you’re free to have.
 
Personally, I like them. You can dislike them, but telling me you dislike them doesn’t accomplish much. I’d prefer to hear feedback on more important and universal aspects (composition, forms, rendering, yatta yatta yatta) than a personal preference regarding a tiny deviation from the canon style.

Those noses look a little funny and there coat look extra cute/fluffy.

They grow every time someone complains about them.

Those nose antennae are a terrible aesthetic choice. It completely distracts from the art. I wish he’d drop them.
