I always find it weird that folks like to mark characters with a design like the Equus Hominis as anthro. It’s actually humanized. The quickest way to tell is the nose. As you can see, shepherd’s design possesses a regular human nose, as well as a regular mouth. The nose and mouth are the most important litmus for anthro/humanized clarification.
 
Furthermore, she has purple skin, and not fur, just like EqG Twilight. This further clarifies that something in the vain of “Equus Hominis” would be humanized, and we would need to create a new classification for anthros, not to mention a branch needs to made for satyrs as well.

The centaur /would/ be approachable, if it weren’t for the derped eyes.  
Derpy is the only exception to the rule.

That’s easy. Chimaera as the genus and the Latin word for satyr if there is one for species. I dunno, do your own homework.

Some people have been angling to put Homo and Pan together. Really, once you get past the species level it’s totally arbitrary, and even species aren’t always clean-cut.

And scientific names can have more than two terms. Modern humans are Homo sapiens sapiens to differentiate from Neanderthals, Homo sapiens neanderthalensis.

The chimp genus, right? I don’t think it’s that extreme. Look at the possible re-creations of extinct members of the genus homo. Ponies do resemble the genus equus.

I don’t know. Filing ponies under genus Equus feels like putting humans in genus Pan. I like using Equunculus. They are little ponies, after all.
