Description

Something that I’m really hoping that would come true is a Final-Fantasy based MLP game. And what I mean by that is a full-on MLP game done in a way of Final Fantasy (not a patch or cover). Original scenarios, original music, good script writing, full environments, the whole nine yards. I have ideas for scenarios but I can’t draw. I can barely write. The only thing I can provide is the music. Would like an honest opinion. (this is a little something I threw together before I headed out)

OP here. It would be Discord’s character but he would be allied with Celestia and Luna due to his taming and that he has an interest in his tamer. Also, the antagonist is someone who’d you would never think (and there would be two of them).

If you decide to do a random battle generator, make them tolerable. VI did this very well, fights came and went with little hassle: it didn’t feel like a chore to get from one place to the other, and attacks and attack animations didn’t take centuries to perform.
Try to introduce something novel, too. Each Final Fantasy was an experiment, they each tried to invent something novel to the gameplay and story, rather than be the same game over and over again. II tried a more realistic leveling system (the experiment failed, but I can appreciate the effort). III introduced a new job system that put emphasis in adaptation. IV introduced the ATB system, that had you on edge for your turn BECAUSE CECIL IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SURVIVE ANY GODDAMN ATTACKS AAARGH! VI kept the ATB meter going so battles didn’t feel stagnant, and broke the “magic is limited to wizards” and “RPGs in medieval times” paradigms, and optional characters. So don’t limit yourself to the standard “select attack, select target, wait” paradigm of the 90’s RPGs. Maybe even take a few pointers from the greatest RPG in human history: Chrono Trigger.

FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6 (this FUCKING one), FF7 was okay, FF8 was good. Anything else, I could see your point.
