IMO it’s good to avoid deus ex machina as much as possible, but I agree that in this case it’s probably best solution… still feels a bit odd though

I don’t see how the Deus Ex Machina is a bad thing in this case. The book is trying to be as canon as possible and Deus Ex Machinas so far have been common in the show. XD

What is all the love/hate about? The story seemed ok to me, even though there were things about it I didn’t really like (mainly the ending, there is IMO too much deus ex machina in it. Maybe letting Nyx stay old and in depressions/doubts at least for a while would be better? Hard to say…), the storyline seemed solid enough to me… (Note that I haven’t actually read it, I’ve listened reading by [can’t spell it, you can find it under VDSAD Past Sins] and Illya Leonov (ch. 14+), fact, that I enjoyed listening, doesn’t necessarily mean I’d enjoy reading it (I’ve even enjoyed one of Dan Browns audio books, even though I was strongly noticing how very “consumer literature” it is (that probably isn’t correct expression, what I want to say is “written only to make money”) and I don’t like that kind of books).

10/10 would read
