@Millennial Dan
And I’d agree with you… if said debate was with a rational and mature being willing to hear Fluttershy’s argument. My scenario takes place within Griffon the Brush Off during the party for Gilda when Fluttershy was still somewhat freshly traumatized by her. I love Flutters but she’s not very good at confrontations that don’t involve standing up for her pony friends. As seen here, Gilda is bringing Fluttershy’s altruism into question and, for one as easily cowed as Flutters, she starts to take the badgered witness position (i.e. feeling guilt when she’s done no wrong). I believe that Fluttershy would question herself if there was even the slightest chance that she might be inadvertently mistreating her beloved animals. Add that to Gilda not giving Fluttershy a chance to speak and you’re going to have one freaked out little pony. But as out of character as this may seem, all I really wanted was for Gilda to ingest her avian relatives in an ironic way.
@Millennial Dan
It would be funny if Gilda took offense to the bird choir, calling it species insensitivity.
Gilda: “What are thse birds doing here?”
Fluttershy: “They’re a choir that I’ve trained to sing songs.”
Gilda “So you’re paying them to perform?”
Fluttershy: “Um, well, no, not exactly but… I feed them~~”
Gilda: “Oh, so if they don’t perform the way you want, they go hungry?”
Fluttershy: “N-No, that’s not it at all. They like to sing.”
Gilda: “And what if they didn’t, hmm? Was this choir their idea?”
Fluttershy: “No, b-but~~”
Gilda: “So you admit that you’re repressing an avian’s right to sing however and whenever they want? Heaven forbid they should disobey the hooved master race by singing off key and wind up starving to death! You make me sick, Bigotshy!”
Fluttershy: “I’m part avian, too.”
Gilda: “SO IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT ALL RIGHT?”
Fluttershy runs off crying *
(Gilda looks to her left and to her right and when no one’s watching, she eats the choir birds)
@youregoingtoloveme
Technically, Fluttershy has already shown a modicum of forgiveness to Gilda. She not only attended a party that was put on expressly for Ms. Screaminyourface, she even brought her bird choir for some live music. Fluttershy is definitely not a spiteful or vindictive pony.
I think Flutters is too kind to hold a grudge. She gave Discord a chance to redeem himself.
DISCORD.
If Gilda was to try anything now, Fluttershy has a support structure that would keep her safe and ground the griffon if anything went badly.

10/10 would read again.
Meh. Shy may not stick up for herself with much vigor, but she could easily defend why her animal friends do what they do.
Ehehehehehehe.

Yes, it’s true but it’s not really a problem.
It’s true though. Don’t try to deny it.
