Thanks. Actually, I should have worked it out instead of trying to do geometry in my head at midnight. There are no gaps in the rearranged bar, but it is slightly shorter than the original - the line that cuts the two top pieces is 2.3 subunits long, not the 2.5 you think it is. 0.2 subunits times 5 across amounts to 1, which is now in the “extra” piece.

Actually, I oversimplified a bit. The two lengths I mentioned probably are the same. It’s the inner sides of the top pieces that don’t add up exactly after you switch them.

The slanting cut is misleading - the distance up from the left isn’t the same as the distance down from the right, as it would have to be for the rearrangement to work. If you did it with a real candy bar, the pieces wouldn’t fit together exactly, and the gaps would have the same area as the piece that seems to have appeared from nowhere. The drawing is fudged (so to speak).
