When I first started watching MLP Rarity was my least favorite pony then after Suited For Success and A Dog and Pony Show I realized she has real depth. Rarity is not the slave to fashion I had first thought. Rarity makes fashion. She sets trends. Rarity’s character is a balancing act between warm and gracious and snooty and materialistic which makes for an interesting inner conflict. It is a great credit to the writers that they keep her on that edge.
Also her voice. I love Rarity’s voice.
Rarity, I should note, is the one character who is most keenly aware of her flaws and works the hardest to overcome them.
I mean Twilight is also in my opinion a subversion. She’d be the nerdy best friend who we get a chuckle out of for being such a nerd. But nope. Main character practically.
