This line from the fic “I Won’t Say It” sum that up nicely

…The Greeks were weird.
Then what you have there is a society that either values screwiness, and therefore lauds their gods as the screwiest of the screws, or one that can overlook alot of screwiness due to personal ability.
But I’ve heard from somewhere that the people look up to the Greek myths in a similar way that people look up to superheroes.
The screwed up bunch that, for better or worse, hold the reigns to their lives.
All this talk about Greek mythology got me thinking. What do the Greeks SEE in these gods?
Which not only happened constantly, but tended to end badly for the mortals involved.
“On the other hand, who WASN’T related up there to each other?”
Answer: No one. The Greek pantheon consists of the children of the titan Chronos and their offspring. Incest is inevitable unless they go find some attractive mortal.
Well, in Greek society, that was how you proposed. And marrying nieces and nephews is still legal now, so it’s not all that weird.
While this is true, I kinda take more an issue that Hades essentially kidnapped his niece to marry her. And daddy Zeus didn’t even give a shit. (On the other hand, who WASN’T related up there to each other?)
I like to imagine, that Hades was like the Ice King of the Greek pantheon.
Well, in comparison to modern humans, his marriage is pretty average. Especially since he’s essentially the overworked office worker from before that was even a thing.
Which isn’t really saying much, especially compared to his younger brothers.
He also did the voice for the TV series because his nephew told him that if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be welcome at Thanksgiving. XD
OK, I’ll admit. That was a bad one.
