I don’t know whether it’s more amusing or sad, watching a fandom going through the whole thing all over again as if there are no furries around to help talk you through it.
 
When there’s a perceived focus on perversion in outsider media, it’s not because some culprit is sneaking off to the media to tell them “yeah we’re perverts,” like it was a secret nobody would have suspected. The assumption is made, the story is written, and then they go look for material. If you believe that enough warning, scolding, and blaming would have prevented the Howard Stern show from finding someone who would say what they want to hear, think again.
 
If there starts to be enough panic and recrimination over the fandom’s “reputation” that that becomes the story, heavens help you.

It always baffles me that people will get so hung up on what other people think is erotic. Who in the world lets their entire opinion of someone shift based on whether they like this or that kind of porn? Granted, I’m not about to go up to anyone and hand them a list of my fetishes and porn sites I frequent, but I don’t see why I should go to any great lengths to hide something that’s perfectly natural and healthy, especially if I’m invited to discuss it in a serious manner (this applies to all things sexual, by the way).
