I have a headcanon that Celestia is especially fond of children, because they often will show affection to her without reservation, and it’s considered (somewhat) socially acceptable.

I understand how it’s feel Celestia , I really do .

For those wondering, the title translates into “God or machine”.

Doesn’t really matter what she said in the past, she’s clearly had a change of heart, which is completely valid.

Someone needs to build a sun-raising machine.

I know this is supposed to be dramatic or some such, but the level of cliche and the whole “All your base are belong to us” aspect of it just makes this hilarious to me.

As strange as it is, I think that this is the primary reason why people ship Celestia x Discord or go for Princest

What if she in her past live flat out TOLD Celestia to come and find her (well him then) so they can always be together?

That still doesn’t mean that Celestia is entitled to have this mare.
 
I say this only because I know people who have had to struggle with abusive relationships like that. Guilt tripping people into feeling affection is a classic example of stalker behavior. If this happens to you in real life, this should immediately be a big red flag.
 
Just because you feel bad that you don’t have something, does not mean that you are entitled to it.

Except, if you actually read, you’d see she wasn’t demanding the guard to love her, she was asking why loving the guard is improper/wrong.

Why yes, demanding that others love you is selfish. Its the kind of thing that I expect out of high school romance, where people think that they deserve someone else’s affections regardless of how said other person feels.

I mean, when one person is the only one near and far who is able to make the sun literally come up, well, it is true, you can not afford anything to happen to this person. You could easily end up in this situation.

Uh… Actually yes, you are.

So, she means everybody needs someone to love.
 
Tragic…

I always figured that Celestia has a rotten, nonexistent love life for exactly this reason. Nopony dares to court her because they either think of themselves as unworthy, deem it improper to ever try and court somepony of her stature, or fear her crushing rejection, when in reality she’d probably jump out of her golden shoes and throw herself at even the lowliest pony who has the backbone to flirt with her.
 
The poor thing’s probably starved for actual affection, rather than the trite idolatry she’s put up with for a bazillion years. I doubt she even gets many hugs.

I’m also a woman…with needs…
