The life of a rock farmer isn’t an easy one to begin with, especially for unicorns who lack the innate ability that earth ponies have to bless the land through their labor. Rarity, being one of the few to try and even fewer to be at all successful at it, has more than her share of burdens.
 
Also being a single mother raising a child who is a completely different species is certainly one of them, but it isn’t one that she would give up for anything.
 
Granted, she does have to keep an eye on the little guy to make sure he doesn’t literally start eating into her profits if left unsupervised. She has plenty of gems to offer her little Spikey-wikey to help him grow up big and strong, though.”
