I like that apprenticeship idea…even if she is the same age as Dash (about 15, she said she was a sophomore in the Starlight Dance installment) she could still be working after school.

More likely that was just her bedroom in her parents’ house by the river. It’s reasonable that she’d decorate her adult home the same way.

It is kind of blunt, isn’t it? A few strips ago these two kind of hated each other, but apparently they’re great friends now because of stuff that happened off-screen during that montage page.

Unless it’s doing a thing where Rarity boldly drops out of high school to start the business she thought she could already handle (correctly, as it turns out).
Since we know from the TV show that Dash doesn’t finish school, this might be setting something up.
Wasn’t she seen in it when she was a filly? Maybe her parents moved out to another house when she was of age.
She had probably just got it, with a considerable down payment. Or rather, she worked as an apprentice for whomever owned it previously, and then inherited it when they retired.
