Well, Rare and AJ were really scared of the ghost story of the headless horse Twi told them. So them being afraid of ghosts in a spocky castle isn’t weird. And Shy is always scared of everything. XD  
Even RD had a time where she was scared of a ghost/ghost story though I’m not sure which episode that was or if I confuse it with one of the many fics I’ve read.^^

The brony fandom everytime something they don’t like happens.

You’d think that after facing down mad gods, shadow demons, and a malicious avatar of nature itself, the Mane Six’d be a bit tougher than the average pony. They are, at this point, veterans of conflicts beyond anything the Guard has experienced.
 
Well, at least two of them were able to work past the ambience. And Rarity needs to stop yelling at castles.

Well, they ARE ponies. We have seen them run and panic in many cases which we normally would believe they would be able to handle it. Like the Hydra or the Timberwolves. Twi can sent a Ursa Minor flying with a baby milkglas and Shy can stare dragons and whatnot down, AJ has enough strength to hold down a rockodile, Pinkie has all sorts of canons and whatnot (but she still ran from the Timberwolves), Rarity has the excuse that she’s a fabulous lady and even she can use karate to kick AJ’s flank.
 
So to me it seems more thatn “fleeing” is the normal pony reaction. Especially given that the first thing most background ponies do when danger comes is to run and/or hide and not fight the danger.^^
 
The guards, warriors and soldiers probably had much training to surpress that “flight” instinct of ponies to be able to face dangerous and powerful enemies.
 
Twi and co are “normal” ponies with no such training so they are more likely to panic if they believe it is something they can’t handle, in this case ghosts and such. They can fight properly when they have a reason to do so, like to protect somepony/something or to reach a mean, etc.
 
But here their reasons weren’t “the most important ones in life” thus trying to stay brave to make sure those reasons get done was lower than fear for own life/soul and trying to save said life/soul.
 
I mean look at Shy here. She also paniced but once she saw Angel getting crushed, she forgot her fear for her own life and tried to save Angel. Granted she couldn’t do much, but she did something while the others were just running/flying/crying around.
 
Twi on the other hand never had experienced the same as the others and she was about to do for what she came for, thus her pony flight instinct was calmed down unlike the others.
 
It’s probably the reason why the others hid on Twi’s back and what made Twi step forward to check on said “pony of shadows” (Sombra, I’m calling it now, the shadow with yellow eyes is a pony who got possessd by Sombra’s horn!), they were still under the “flight to safety” effect of their pony instincts while Twi was under the effect of her “sane mind” which hasn’t seen nor heard spooky stuff plus who had read about a organ in a book.
 
So yeah, I do think that while especially AJ/RD were “pussies” for getting in such a huge panic, that it makes sense for what they are in regards to what they had seen compared to what Twi had witnessed.

Minor gripe, they were all kinda pansies in this episode. Shy and even Rare I understand, but Dash and Aj? Buck up, you sissies!
 
Other than that, a delightful little romp, this episode.

This is indicating a disturbing trend this season, wherein the rest of the Mane Six are useless without Twilight. I just hope the next episode breaks the pattern.
