i understand what you mean.  
i tried it with an higher contrast like her back being fully dark shaded and a bright outline to the bodies silouhette but it looked awful even if it would be correct when making the fire the only lightsource.  
so i used two light sources instead.  
one, the fireplace and two coming from where the viewer stands (like him/her wearing a lantern in front of him) well i could´ve made a bright hallway but then i would´ve to drew the viewers shade falling inside the room.  
gosh why do i always overthink everything?
 
besides that still experimenting with ambient light,too so i could be wrong.
 
but in most cases i rather go with what i find pretty than what would be correct.  
gosh that sounds kinda lazy. ehhh i let pictures grow naturally? yeah that sounds totally like i know what i´m doing.

idk man. That fireplace looks pretty bright. I’m probably just speaking out of ignorance, but maybe the parts of her body more exposed to the light should reflect a little more yellow-orange, y’know? She just looks a dark, like there should be more contrast.

rosa skin tends to look like this when exposed to the bright orange light of open fireplaces.
