Not that it should really matter, but human Flash was no jock. The athletes were a very distinct clique in the movie, and Flash wasn’t part of their group.

I’m saying people have to be PEOPLE to like each other.
The movie makes a romance, and the only characterization that they give the male counterpart is “DRIVES A CAMARO, PLAYS GUITAR, PLAYS FOOTBALL”. I’m also saying that people shouldn’t be polar opposites.
It’s plausible that for instance, a person akin to Pinkie Pie might work with a person like Twilight Sparkle, they’re different but not opposites.
Flash Sentry is literally the opposite of what Twilight is, Twilight is a slightly awkward bookworm who as we’ve seen in the past does not often show off even her numerous achievements and is as a result quite humble. Flash Sentry is an extremely popular jock. Sure, that’s the only characterization we get of him, but that’s literally the opposite of Twilight. No, people don’t have to be identical, but they have to be close enough so that one can bridge the gap between them. Navigating from the south pole to the north pole is a hell of a lot harder than navigating from the south pole to Brazil.
The heck are you babbling about? You seem to think people have to be identical in order to like one another, and your imaginary comparisons suck. I wouldn’t change a thing about Flash. He could use more character development, but that was true of all of them at some point.
Canon? Hell no. Only one that should be canon is…whatever the hell one the writers make. Maybe Spike and Rarity.
If you ask me, shipping should just remain in fanon.
In fact, I think that the shallow things that Hasbro demands stems from an agenda to to make the culture in general more degenerate.
The thing I don’t like about flashlight is that flash/brad is a hastily created character that fits what hasbro thinks will sell well. He is extremely shallow. They inserted him solely for marketing purposes. In fact, I expect EqG’s entire existence is a marketing ploy.

Sure, Flash Sentry is a wonderful fit for Twilight, it wouldn’t hurt anything. Let’s pair Applejack up with a pretty boy who doesn’t go outside, Pinkie Pie with an antisocial shut-in, Rainbow Dash with someone who is completely unable to be athletic, and Rarity with someone who wallows in feces and mud all day and is missing 4 teeth.
But then you’ll probably make the argument that they can change them or some nonsense, and in the end it’s all of you folks trying to justify in your mind the decisions of a company that frankly isn’t all that good of a company in the first place.
The problem is all in your mind. It wouldn’t hurt a thing to be canon, and it already sort of is anyway.
