Hmm… well, it’s true that that’s one of my big problems - this kind of story being crammed into just twenty minutes did absolutely no favors for the pacing… still, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for me. Besides that issue, a lot of the dialogue was jarringly stiff and formulaic, the cinematography was dodgy and bland, the characters behaved like cardboard cutouts of themselves, several small details of the story were hair-raisingly stupid and nonsensical, and everyone - barring Fluttershy - was a bit too suspicious for a group of mares who are supposedly meant to embody the essence of harmony and friendship…

Don’t get me wrong, though - I’m glad there are those out there who either don’t feel this episode has the problems I mentioned, or are willing to look past them and enjoy the episode regardless of what flaws it may have. Hell, usually I’m the one who’ll grasp for any excuse he can find to think positively of something - not just for episodes of FiM, but for much of anything, really. But even so… when I saw this episode for the first time, back when it initially aired, it was the very first time in the whole series that it honestly felt like a chore to sit through the episode, and when I rewatched season 3 in the weeks leading up to the Season 4 premiere, I’m sad to say it didn’t get any easier. Which is odd, considering how nearly every other opinion I had of the season only got better with age, strange though that may sound.

It really pains me to say this, considering how I’m able to at least somewhat enjoy every single other episode in the series. And it’s like salt in the wound, as I believe that all of these problems could have been fixed relatively easily, had they simply allocated the episode the running time that the Discord redemption story deserved. But, hey - Season 4 is off to a fantastic start, with three strong episodes right out of the gate, so I’m at least relieved that the pitfall in quality many argue the latter half or so of season three took wasn’t a permanent one. Whatever the case, I’m looking forward to a very bright future for the series to come.

The worst complaints I’ve seen until now have been from those who merely wish it had been even longer, certainly a far cry from what you’re saying.

And as for my own high acclaim, I’m quite comfortable in the assertion, after having given it plenty of thought. It’s very unlikely you could do anything to ruin my warm feelings about this one.

Ohoho, on the contrary - you fellows aren’t up here nearly enough! Clearly, you’ve been spending too much time amongst the philistines who wallow amidst the dirt, to see **shudders ** this, as an episode worthy of such praise!

**shrugs ** I dunno what to tell ya, mate. Everyone I’ve spoken to about it up until this point has agreed that this episode is damn-near unwatchable… also, I find it funny you should bring up being “lost in your own mind”, Mr. Wasn’t-aware-of-anyone-hating-this-episode.

Sweet, delicious irony.
