it would have made much more thematic sense if the artist knew a flipping thing about cybermen, namely that the memory of being one is enough to be one; even if you don’t have any metal parts you still go crazy about ‘upgrading’ and inflicting it on everyone else. it’s popped up a few times; you can’t save someone once the process has started. first thing it does is put in their heads the compulsion to finish it.
 
it’d be a cool in-your-face to use their own technology to destroy them, even if it meant everyone forgetting they got cyberized.
 
still a weak plot device though. but less than “forgetting b/c ignorance is bliss” at least. the best strategy in my opinion for the artist to have done is to not have a plot about cybermen cyberizing my little pony in the first place goddamn it how sick do you have to be to do that to those cute little ponies you complete monster is nothing sacred
