You’re underestimating how large and veteran the Eastern allies were at that point and the Axis wasn’t beaten yet anyway.
I kinda find it funny, how english say USSR as german say UdSSR, another great point for the german language! (sarcasm)
And about the time thing, yeah, but the allies could have taken on Russia, stopping the cold war and the terror with it. But no, Soviets are allies and no bad guys.
I’m not defending the USSR and you can’t saddle me with that position. But the only reason they were able to ruin Russia worse than the Nazis ruined Germany is that they had more time to do it. The Nazis were just as incompetent and careless with the environment as the Soviets.
I know that. After all am i german, i know pretty well, how much damage have been done all over europe. But still, it leaves a bitter taste everytime i hear “Blockbuster movie”, great.
And less damage to the world? Wow, the Udssr have done greater damage to their own people than to any other nation, yes, they are less evil than those nazis.
The allied forces in Normandy shelled French villages to clear the Germans out too. The short answer is that the Nazis were so all encompassingly bad that any measures taken to beat them faster ultimately meant less damage to the world.

Great to see so many clear minds. What is about the Blockbusters? Before anyone say “Oh, movies!” Nope, i mean the american bombers, that were bombing whole blocks of cities away, not caring if hitting civilians or military targets.
And the most disturbing thing is for me, that the Udssr haven´t paid their price for the greater crimes, they have done. Even more after the trials. Oh well, the victorious choose their ways.
Events of WW2 branded a lot of national symbols for many nations as something “evil”, not just Germany.
For Germany its obviously most “renown” but for others its at least made them “evil” in their own nation. Like “Za dom” for my nation that dates back to the 17th century, but became a taboo to say because it will right away be associated with the Ustaša movement.
Nazis ruined everything they touched. Swastikas, the Roman salute, toothbrush mustaches, the Iron Cross, the term Fuhrer, the German national anthem, everything.
Yep. The Nazis ruined pretty much everything. And some rather disturbed people still insist that everything done in Germany between Charlemagne and 1933 was a direct prelude to Nazism.
Just chalk it up as another thing the Nazis ruined, along with swastikas, Roman salutes, and toothbrush mustaches. Thankfully modern Germany was able to salvage the music and some of the original lyrics for their anthem.
