C’mon, spoiler it!
Believe it or not, they get off the easiest of the three pony kinds.
Unicorns go through a funny magical discharge phase (Often called “mischarge”) where their body produces too much magic for the horn to contain. When they try to cast spells, it tends to come out of other parts of the body. Twi got lucky with it only coming from her eyes; Most young unicorns accidentally burn off their tail when they can’t cast a spell and then they can’t sit for close to a week.
And I’d tell you all about the earth pony’s secretion phase, but… it’s a safe-rated image. All you need to know is you’d better have sponges and a 3M™ Supplied Air Respirator on hand.
Well that sucks.
It’s all part of the pegasus lifecycle. They don’t grow like other ponies. Rather one portion of their body at a time grows until it is adult sized, and then another part begins growing. This trend continues until they are a full-grown pegasus.
Most pegasi get their first growth spurt in their wings. Fluttershy got hers in her legs, Scootaloo got hers in her head.
