I do too to be honest, I keep thinking two guards get told they have been selected for a very special duty concerning the Princesses well being.
 
They agree to at least give the job a shot and are very excited for the honor of working so close to the royal sisters but are a little confused as to why some of the other higher ups and former applicants seem to get awkward or embarrassed at the mention. Needless to say they do find out.

I like that theory way more than I probably should…

Celestia and Luna both secretly want foals of their own, at least Celestia had Twilight for a while but it is still just not the same.
 
And thus there is a secret “chore” some of the royal gaurds must partake in from time to time.
