Eternal night would have messed up Equestria’s ability to feed itself, resulting in mass migrations at best, and everyone starving to death at worst. Discord’s own brand of chaos would have made things a living hell for everyone involved.
fair point. it also probably helps that whatever villain hasn’t really killed anyone; just caused a whole bunch of trouble that is cleaned up fairly quickly.
True, but you’re less likely to deal with a mass murderer than a standard bully. I wouldn’t make them more sympathetic regardless.
in a sense, it works. bullying is something that could actually happen to a kid and something they might be afraid of, while someone trying to cause the apocalypse by creating clouds of cotton candy or making it where it’s continually night is pretty much pure fantasy. bullying hits home.
