Yeah, if Trenderhoof does indeed show no interest in Rarity throughout the episode and it is apparent from the start, I could see Spike laugh at the situation.

What would be even funnier is if he gets a chuckle at Rarity acting just like him. Especially because Trenderhoof is crushing on AJ and Rarity wants him. Just sees him as no threat and Rarity is being silly for no reason.

I also like it when they delve into the depressing part of his character, as long as they don’t do it too much. Spike is supposed to be a happy little guy. Yes, he has his insecurities and issues even, but overall one of the things that make him so great is that he’s such a happy, innocent, playful and humorous little guy in the midst of it all. If his depression is leading up to one big, conclusive feelsy episode, I’ll be happy. I’m just afraid that it just won’t come and they’ll keep kicking him around for no reason.  
As for ‘Simple Ways’, I know it probably won’t happen, but wouldn’t it be great if Spike got really jealous? I mean, he’s a dragon and this ‘Trenderhoof’ bozo is jeopardizing his position and stealing his soul mate. That must be even worse than raiding someone’s hoard.

And know it doesn’t matter, but he was pretty darn good in EqG. Despite it all, he was still better in that than any Williams episode.

He’s still mine, I just want to see more done with him. I like seeing him sad like in Power Ponies, which was a great episode.
 
Simple Ways could be absolutely hilarious if he’s in it.

Twilight is now the Friendshipmeister. She does not need a voice of reason, because she now is and basically graduated friendship. I don’t like it either. The Spike I love has slowly changed into another Spike I can still appreciate, but only because I love cute little kids and he’s got a bunch of potential as well.
